Pentagon Scraps Internet Voting Plans for November Election

by Steve

The Pentagon has changed course and scrapped plans to have overseas staff and their families vote through internet voting in the November election. Why? Because after concerns from security experts about the ease of manipulation by hackers and (yes) terrorists to alter the votes, the Pentagon agreed that it could not with a high degree of confidence ensure the accuracy and security of such a system.

Which begs the question: if the Pentagon can't ensure accuracy and security over concerns about vote tampering, why exactly are states and counties voting with unauditable touch-screen and other computerized systems this fall?
