Kerry Drills Bush Over Woodward's Claim Of A Saudi Fix On Gas Prices
Remember last night when I suggested that John Kerry make a big deal out of the Woodward revelation that the Saudis were conspiring with Bush to lower gas prices just before the election?
People do read the Left Coaster, after all.
Kerry is in a no-lose situation here. He is coupling this anti-Bush, anti-Saudi message with a pro-Israel message in Florida. Running against the Saudis, especially after you remind voters that 15 of the 19 September 11, 2001 hijackers were Saudis and not Iraqis, will be a potent issue for Kerry, and one that Bush will be hard-pressed to spin.
What’s W’s going to say? “It’s not fair to beat up on our friends the Saudis?” Nope.
“I have no such plan for wrecking the economy this summer for the sake of my campaign this fall?” Nope.
And if gas prices do come down this fall, Bush cannot claim credit for it without voters being reminded of what Kerry and Woodward said this spring, thereby reinforcing in their mind that Bush is in cahoots with the Saudis at our expense.
Run with this, John, and run far and hard.
