Ashcroft Freelanced Terrorist Threat Announcement Without Telling Tom Ridge

So Ashcroft freelanced his announcement Wednesday about an imminent terrorist threat, without clearing it with Tom Ridge and without following the 2002 law that created Ridge's department. It's always reassuring to see the chief law enforcement official of the land, and a man with a long-standing close relationship with Karl Rove, break the law and do something so overtly political. Even GOP Congressman Christopher Cox said that Ashcroft broke the law and screwed up. But the rest of the GOP is being quiet, even though these are the same guys that said Janet Reno was being overly political in her duties.

What a bunch of hypocritical incompetents. What exactly do Andy Card and Condi Rice do for their pay checks?
