It's 2004! Do You REALLY Know Where Your Terrorists Are, John Ashcroft??
As if lots of incredulous commentary about John Ashcroft's recent 'warning' of a major terrorist attack in America this summer weren't enough, there comes this:
At least two of the terrorists identified by John Ashcroft as part of an 'Al-Qaeda cell' that is waiting to attack America this summer are already in jail.
A respected website that holds databases on terror suspects lists Amer El-Maati as 'incarcerated'. Likewise, Aafia Siddiqui, a female former MIT student, was arrested in Pakistan over a year ago, according to NBC.
The 'cell' that these individuals are said to belong to doesn't even exist. The Abu Hafs al Masri group was described by the Boston Globe as a 'phantom organization'. Their researchers could find no evidence that the group was real.
Each time a new terror threat is announced or a terror suspect is 'captured,' we discover that they have either already been arrested or they have been dead for a year or more.
Furthermore, New York City and Los Angeles officials told Reuters that they had not been informed by the government of any terror threat, despite the fact that people like Ashcroft and Ridge are all over the media fearmongering about the inevitability of an attack before the election.
I can attest to this last! The morning after the announcement, LA officials announced to our local media that they never got any notification that there was an increased threat, much less something 'specific', but were going to go about their routine efforts as per normal (for today's world).
It's becoming more and more obvious that the declining polling numbers of George Warmonger Bush are behind these terror' alerts' as well as the recent efforts by Jeb Bush to make it even easier this time to steal the election in Florida. The GOP is getting desperate enough to resort to this sort of crap, this early in the campaign, things will only get smarmier by the time November rolls around. We're going to see things we never saw before in any election - assuming the GOP allows it to go ahead as scheduled. The longer this goes on, I'm sure that it won't.
