Kerry Edges Ahead in West Virginia
In a poll taken through last night, and after any bump Bush would have gotten from the Reagan funeral, American Research Group reports this morning that Kerry has pulled slightly ahead of Bush in West Virginia, after being tied with him earlier in the spring. The movement by Kerry past Bush is based on a switch of support from independents who now favor Kerry in that state, after Bush previously had a 16-point advantage with independents. Also, Kerry's favorability ratings have gone up in the state. Keep in mind that Bush grabbed this state out of the Democratic column from Gore in 2000.
