For The Second Time In Two Days, A Bush Veto Threat Is Ignored
by Steve
Yes, it’s early in the process, and yes, it’s an election year, but today was the House’s turn to ignore a White House veto threat. Not only is it surprising that the Denny Hastert/Tom DeLay House didn’t show enough GOP discipline to stick with the president (22 GOP members voted with the Democrats), but the issue that prompted the “up yours” from the House was the Administration’s changes to overtime rules, as the House voted to prevent the Labor Department from implementing the new rules.
Tom the Hammer will be busy tonight.
