Did you know that New York Times had a page devoted to their articles and editorials called Making Votes Count? It features Adam Cohen who is travelling throughout the country to report on the process of the election. For example, on Sept 18th, there was a piece on how the Nevada DREs (Touch Screen Voting Systems) worked with an added paper receipt. (It actually worked!) October 11th, the Times had a piece about how you could get involved to make sure things work well on Election day. As DEK said in a comment to Yuval's piece, there are lots of people ready to make sure that on Election day everyone's votes are counted.
