And Now It's Tommy Thompson's Turn To Leave

by Steve

The beltway moving vans are getting a workout just dealing with departing Bush cabinet members. Tommy Thompson announced this morning that he is leaving HHS, likely to be replaced with another member of the Bush inner circle, CMS Commissioner Mark McClellan, brother of administration paid liar Scott McClellan.

During Thompson's tenure,

a) the Medicaid reform package was rejected out of hand by the nation's governors;

b) he and his cronies lied to Congress about the Medicare drug benefit's true costs, and

c) he failed to make meaningful progress in upgrading our nation's public health infrastructure to handle a chemical or biological replay of 9/11.

Sounds like a typical record of success for this Administration.
