Chris Albritton reports that he will be one of the embedded as the military goes in to "clean up" Mosul before the Jan 30 elections in Iraq. And as is fitting when one is preparing for free and independent elections, Allawi is ordering a complete lockdown of Iraq for election day. This seems to tie in nicely for an election where the candidates feel compelled to conduct stealth campaigns. Somehow, none of this news makes the upcoming elections look very viable.
