Cable News Inaugural Coverage Stacked Almost Exclusively With Republicans And Conservatives

by Steve

Don't look for balance from the cable networks amongst the commentators they brought in today to swoon over the Bush inaugural.

Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Republican and conservative guests and commentators outnumbered Democrats and progressives 17 to 6 on FOX, 10 to 1 on CNN (not including a Republican-skewed panel featuring Ohio voters), and 13 to 2 on MSNBC.

Sure, it's the GOP's $40 million party today, complete with the pepper-spraying of protesters, the arrests of women heckling the speeches, and the tearing up of placards by cops that were deemed unacceptable because they offered a contrary opinion on the coronation today.

But that doesn't mean the media had to participate in the propaganda so totally either. I'm sure if this were a Kerry inauguration, there would be similarly lopsided panels of commentators favoring the Democrats today.

Yeah, sure there would.
