Italians Decide To Leave Iraq Starting In September

Well, here’s your fallout from the American shooting of Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena and her Secret Service rescuer Nicola Calipari: Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, a staunch Bush ally, said today that Italy will begin withdrawing its 3,000 troops from Iraq in September. The Italian Senate had just voted weeks ago to extend that country's tour of duty beyond June, but Berlusconi is now saying they'll begin leaving in September.
