Lost in the media frenzy of this week was a little tidbit about Bush's Bamboozlepalooza stop in New Mexico. Turns out that even though John McCain paired up with Bush, not only did the Representative Heather Wilson stay far, far away, but they couldn't find enough people to fill the auditorium. From the Carpetbagger Report:
Ow. Sounds like people in NM didn't want to be bamboozled. The local chamber of commerce says that Kiva Auditorium only holds 2,350 people, while the NYT reported there were "hundreds" of empty seats. So, while presidential visits usually generate some local excitement, Bush visited New Mexico's largest city to discuss his signature domestic policy initiative, had a rock-star quality politician by his side, gave away tickets for nothing, and still couldn't fill a small theater.
What else is going on?
