Public Service Announcement

by rayman

This morning, I received an email purportedly from Paypal.com informing me that fraud was detected on my account. The email directed me to a link where I would update my personal information (including my credit card information), or otherwise my Paypal account would be terminated. Now, the website looked like an exact replica of Paypal's actual website, but it was an obvious (though clever) phishing attempt. Here's an example of phishing involving...you guessed it, Paypal.

Anyway, did anyone else receive a similar email? Also, if anyone has experienced this sort of phishing, what actions are most appropriate to take? Of course, there's the off-chance that I'm an idiot, and this really was a genuine email from Paypal. But we'll just ignore this remote possibility, OK?
