Colin Powell Starts His Payback Against The Neocons

Colin Powell’s media apparatus has swung into action at a critical time to kill the Bolton nomination. Both the Post and the Times are reporting in their Friday editions that Powell has spoken to GOP senators about Bolton and failed to endorse him for the job.

Payback is a bitch, ain’t it? So much for that GOP and White House bullshit that the opposition to Bolton was nothing more than partisan politics. And don’t think for a moment that Powell’s lack of enthusiasm for Bolton when contrasted against Condi’s support makes her look like nothing more than an upwardly mobile and grossly overrated partisan hack.

Put a fork in Bolton; he’s done. And the damage to the Bush foreign policy image overseas will be severe.
