This week, the two key plays in the Senate are the upcoming vote for John Bolton and the potential that the nuclear option card could be played if Frist has the votes to force it through. On the Bolton front, USA Today has an analysis that says this is a very important vote for Bush because if he wins, he comes out of this stronger for his other initiatives including the getting his radical judges through and destroying Social Security, but if he loses, he will be perceived as a lame duck. With the pressure the White House is putting on the Republican Senators, finding Senators to put their country's interest above the strongarm tactics of a bullying President is going to be hard. Keep up with the latest on Bolton at The Washington Note and War and Piece.
Here's an open thread to start the week.
