Friday Bird Blogging

by eriposte

Clearly envious of the Friday Cat Bloggers and Friday Orchid Bloggers, I hereby unleash Friday Bird Blogging (well, perhaps not every Friday but I'll try) :-)

I identified this fine member (below) of the Family Accipitridae as a juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk - Buteo lineatus. (To see a full close-up you can click on the link).

As this website points out:

Wild red-shouldered hawks live an average of 25.6 months. The oldest known red-shouldered hawk lived 19 years and 11 months.

BTW, most of my pictures are taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR camera with an 70-300 mm Quantarray zoom lens.
