Even though Fox News supporters will tell you that Fox is successful because they are delivering what America wants, a Pew Center poll out today disputes this. By a 68% to 24% split, respondents wanted the media to report the war on terror in a neutral manner, and not as a cheerleader for the Administration. Note elsewhere in this poll that the “favorable” rating of cable TV news has slipped 9 points since 2001. What’s different in this poll between now and 2001?
In 2001, the question didn’t include Fox News. In the most recent survey, which showed the 9-point drop in cable TV news favorability, Fox News was added to the survey question.
