Bush Advance Speech Text: He Will Hide Behind 9/11 Once Again
by Steve
Advance excerpts of Bush’s speech tonight are now available, and as you may have guessed, when things go bad for Bush, he immediately runs and hides behind 9/11. Tonight will be no different. Check out a key paragraph from his prepared remarks:
"The terrorists can kill the innocent - but they cannot stop the advance of freedom. The only way our enemies can succeed is if we forget the lessons of September 11 ... if we abandon the Iraqi people to men like Zarqawi ... and if we yield the future of the Middle East to men like Bin Laden."
Mr. President, the only person who abandoned the Iraqi people to al-Zarqawi was, well, you. You passed up several chances to get al-Zarqawi in the days before the war because you wanted a reason to invade.
Secondly, the only person who to this day yields the future of the Middle East to Mr. “Dead or Alive” is, again, you Mr. President. Your own CIA director says he knows where Bin Laden is, and you passed up a chance to get him at Tora Bora in December 2001.
So please, spare us the rhetoric about those who consign the Iraqis and the people of the Middle East to these terrorists, because you, Mr. Bush, need look no further than in the mirror for the true culprit.
