A Horse Of A Different Feather

I'm going to have to leave specific quotes to others, but I've just watched King George spread out his tired line of reasons why he's conducting the proper operations concerning Iraq. Frankly, I was surprised at the tone of the comments afterwards on PBS, considering that the only bona fide liberal voice on the Newshour panel was that of Boston Globe columnist Tom Oliphant. With two retired military officers and Rich Lowry, the editor of the National Review (whose mixed metaphor is the source of the title of this post), I was sure that Bu$h was going to get a free ride on his oratorio.
When he wasn't repeating the same old stuff about 9/11 and terrorism and freedom, he was sucking up to the military big time. He even lapsed into what had to be a recruitment pitch.
It is vital that Owwer Leedur maintain military support, for as those who do know history better than our C-Average Sovereign, it was often the Praetorian Guard who brought about regime changes. Considering the reaction of retired military officers on PBS after the speech, this has to be a concern to Bu$hCo.
Former Army Colonel Douglas MacGregor had nothing supportive to say about either the Bu$h addre$$, or the strategy that brought about the loss of support that sponsored this talk. Former General Bernard Traynor, while generally apologetic toward Bu$hCo initiatives, concluded in his final remarks (spoken as the camera zoomed in tighter, as if to add emphasis) with some negative observations.
Even Rich Lowry, who I would have expected to have had the final word, admitted that the speech was only going to be accepted by the base, which leads to the observation that support has been wavering in the Red States.
My schedule requires that I sign off, so I open up the floor for comments.
