GOP Culture of Corruption Watch
by eriposte
The GOP's culture of corruption and immorality across the country marches on.
OHIO
The Toledo Blade has another report "Noe involved in 'absolute theft of funds,' Ohio's attorney general says" (via Daily Kos) in their continuing, excellent coverage of the GOP's culture of corruption in Ohio. Ohio State Democratic Senator Marc Dann, who has been doing a great job keeping the heat on Ohio Gov. Bob Taft (R-Corruption) has his own blog Coins for Change, where he has some must-read comments. Readers from Ohio may want to bookmark his blog.
SOUTH DAKOTA
Thune Watch continues to keep the focus on Senator John Thune (R-Corruption) in South Dakota and writes about how Thune has refused to answer questions pertaining to his role in the Dan Nelson Automotive/Metabank scandal. Clean Cut Kid writes about the GOP's desperate attempt to falsely implicate Rep. Stephanie Herseth (D) on a different matter.
CALIFORNIA
CA state Democratic party chair Art Torres filed an ethics complaint with the Fair Political Practices Commission, against California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Corruption). Good for Mr. Torres and the Democrats for standing up to corruption. Schwarzenegger, whose redistricting proposition was struck down by a court, now has the dubious distinction of being a "social liberal" with a lower approval rating in a blue state than George W. Bush. Considering he and his team have been trying to hit new lows in just about everything they do in/to the state, this should not be a surprise.
KENTUCKY
The scandal associated with Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher's (R-Corruption) office has taken a new turn. The Kentucky Post reports:
...In trying to fire back against [Democratic Attorney General Greg] Stumbo and a probe they insist is groundless and politically motivated, Republican administration officials have shot themselves in the proverbial foot so many times it's a wonder they have any toes left.
On Tuesday, the low crimes and misdemeanors probe unexpectedly escalated when a top Transportation Cabinet was indicted on a felony charge of witness tampering, the first felony indictment thus far.
...[Dan] Druen is accused of trying to influence the testimony of his former executive secretary, Cheryl Casey...
"It will eventually come out,'' Casey told the Courier-Journal about statements Druen allegedly made to her in an attempt to influence her testimony. "I hate it. He and I were a really good team, and I really liked working with him.''
Casey, by the way, is president of the Scott County GOP Women's Club.
Of course at the national level, the culture of corruption is magnified by Treasongate.
