Fitzgerald Is Going After Bigger Issues Than Just Who Outed Plame

At a time when Gallup is reporting that a majority of Americans now believe that Bush lied to them about Iraqi WMDs to get us into a war, the Washington Post runs a big story on Page One Wednesday which reveals that Patrick Fitzgerald has gone beyond looking into who destroyed Valerie Plame’s covert identity. He is now zeroing in on how far the Bush Administration went to discredit Joe Wilson and the effort the Administration made to make the CIA take the fall for the White House over the “16 words” in the 2003 SOTU.

And upon reading this, if you don’t come away with the impression that the Agency is about to get revenge, you aren’t paying attention.
