Bush spends OUR money for his Salvation

by Duckman GR

As per Josh Marshall via the Post, here's a breakdown of the bush solution to HIS Political Crisis: the only way to regain public confidence after the stumbling early response to the disaster is to spend whatever it takes.

And if the spending goes to Halliburton and Exxon and Bechtel and any number of bushco pioneers, well, it's not a trifecta, but an exacta and just as good.

So I'm wondering how the Democrats will respond. Here's my letter to Senator Feinstein on the subject.

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I'm glad you've taken Mr. Roberts picture down [from her website], it was embarrassing to say the least.

I have a question. Is the Democratic Party, of which you are a member, made up of the stuff that can lead our nation back to greatness, or is it made up of cautious and frightened men and women not worthy of the charge?

When President Bush gives his speech today grotesquely politicizing the recovery efforts in New Orleans, and he will, be assured, are the Democrats going to offer a counter proposal that would actually benefit the people of the region and the United States of America?

I hear that Bush is going to throw tons of money at the problem, from me and, I hope, you, solely to repair HIS reputation, and benefit HIS crony's like Halliburton and Exxon, to benefit the Republican Political Machine in the South and the Big Corporations that profit from it. At the expense of 90 percent of the population of this country.

Separate but equal education, below minimum wage salaries, no bankruptcy relief, this is what Bush wants. Is that what you want? If not, and I assume you don't, what are you going to do about it?

That is the central question, what are you going to do about it. Because if all you do is vote against it you will be pilloried for voting against helping New Orleans and her people, against rebuilding, against Hope and God and the FLAG you seem to love so much.

We need, desperately need, nay demand, a solution, a real solution. Not a George W Bush GOP POLITICAL solution, not a CORPORATE Jim Crow solution, but a real solution that benefits the people that need it, and that makes things better for all Americans, all of New Orleans, all of the Gulf Coast.

That would involve more natural river flows, restored protective wetlands, employment opportunities, community investment, tight fiscal controls, engagement and support of the affected population, improved infrastructure, and so on. Yes it will be expensive, but it's long past time for some shared sacrifices by ALL Americans, don't you think? I for one would be more than happy to pay for something that benefits the country and the people and the environment, as opposed to feeding more taxpayer funds to those Bush friendly Corporations and Individuals that are sucking the life from the Constitution and the United States.

So you better get your responses ready NOW, RIGHT NOW, not next week or this weekend, but NOW.

I expect it, and I don't want to be disappointed by my representatives.
