GOP Fails To Convince Pelosi and Reid To Participate In Katrina Whitewash Inquiry
by Steve
Kudos tonight to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for hanging tough and opposing Bill Frist and Denny Hastert's attempt at constructing a Katrina whitewash inquiry. Despite efforts to peel away Joe Lieberman to serve as the token Democrat on an allegedly bipartisan inquiry to look into government failings at all levels, Frist and Hastert threw in the towel late today and admitted that a joint House-Senate whitewash inquiry will not take place, and that each house will do their own inquiries, probably without Democratic involvement also. Democrats are holding out for a truly independent inquiry, which is strongly supported by the public.
