Condi Fails To Convince Russia To Go Along On Iran

Looks like Condi has struck out in her attempts to sweet-talk Pooty Poot into voting to refer Iran's nuclear program to the Security Council for a sanctions vote. Instead, Russia insists that the UN continue to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions through the Nobel prize-winning IAEA. This, of course, allows Russia to continue its business interests with Iran unimpeded.

We would have been more successful in pursuing a hard line like this in the anti-terror environment in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, instead of now, after the Bush Administration had lied to the world about Iraq. Of course, this would have required the Bushies to hold their friend Pakistan accountable for its complicity in arming Iran as well, and that was never going to happen.
