Even Gallup Now Has Bush Down To 39%
by Steve
The latest CNN/USAT/Gallup poll came out tonight, taken through yesterday. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Bush has fallen below 40%, to 39%. This is the third time in the last three months that Bush’s numbers have fallen to the 40% level. The poll also reflected that dissatisfaction with the direction of the country is now at 68%, again in a Gallup poll. But before anyone gets too worked up over this, it is important to note that this poll had a 6-point advantage for Democrats over Republicans in self-identification.
This is Bush’s lowest mark ever in a Gallup poll, but more telling is the fact that he now logs in a 58% disapproval rating, after the Miers nomination, the Iraq pushback efforts, and the strenuous effort to look good in the aftermath of Rita to compensate for the debacle of Katrina.
