Brent Scowcroft Will Unload The Big Shot Against Bush's Foreign Policy Team Next Week

by Steve

As reader John B. has noted, on the heels of former State Department official Lawrence Wilkerson's pointed critique of the Cheney/Rummy cabal's hijacking of our foreign policy apparatus, now comes the KO.

According to Steve Clemons over at The Washington Note, Brent Scowcroft will be unloading the cannon shot into the bow of George W. Bush's foreign policy team in Monday's New Yorker. And according to Clemons, Poppy will be in there as well. Yes, it would have been nice for these guys to speak up before the election, but there was no way that was going to happen unless Poppy sanctioned it, and that was never going to happen either. Powell would never speak up, because he values being a good soldier more than he cares about the troops he and John McCain claim they care about.

Scowcroft's blast will come in the same week as Fitzgerald's indictments. Consider the framing that will be going on next week: Scowcroft will be attacking presumably Cheney and Rummy, and by association Condi for their disservice to the country and failures, while Fitzgerald nails the staff for violations of national security laws and perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements.

Do you think they're going to have a shitty week next week?
