Abu Gonzales Allowed Justice Department To Approve Georgia Voter ID Proposal In Violation of Voting Rights Act

by Steve

Despite a long memo by experienced staff pointing out the flaws in a Georgia voter ID proposal including their concerns that the proposal by the state of Sonny Perdue would be in violation of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the political hacks at the top of the Abu Gonzales Justice Department tossed aside those concerns and green-lighted Georgia to go ahead with its attempt to make it harder for African Americans to vote. And then, a federal appeals court panel granted an injunction against the implementation of the new law, for the reasons outlined by the career staff in DOJ.

Oh, and the panel of judges had more Republicans on it than Democrats.
