Is Fitzgerald Now Going After Rove's Attorney?
For your Plame update of this morning, I turn your attention to a piece first carried by the AP yesterday. Time Magazine reporter Viveca Novak, no relation to Battling Bobby Novak, is now also cooperating with Patrick Fitzgerald about contacts she had with Robert Luskin, Karl Rove’s attorney, starting in May 2004. As ReddHedd over at FireDogLake opined yesterday, the reason why Fitz may be doing this is to get at Luskin to determine what has been behind the barrage of self-serving statements to the press about his client. Fitz wants to find out if Luskin has crossed the line into obstruction of justice himself by trying to play the media and influencing a possible jury pool.
Furthermore, Daily Kos diarist idredit notes that Jason Leopold has reported that Fitzgerald will be presenting newly-acquired evidence before a grand jury this week, that he may have obtained after Susan Ralston, who is Rove's aide and who was a former associate of none other than Jack Abramoff, provided testimony.
Lastly, hasn't it been a long time since Scotty McClellan conducted a full press briefing?
