The Coalition of the $willing grew smaller today with the announcement of the departure of Bulgaria's contingent. They will be able to pull out with few casualties thanks to the creeping media barrage laid down to cover their advance to their homeland:
Its statement added that "with the elections conducted, Bulgaria has concluded successfully its mission in Iraq".The full 400-strong contingent is due back in Bulgaria by 31 December, having lost 13 soldiers and six civilians. The Bulgarian withdrawal coincides with the departure of the remaining Ukrainian forces in Iraq, due to be completed by the end of December.
And, of course, those US-trained Iraqis are certainly looking out for al-Zarqawi:
Iraqi police captured and mistakenly released militant leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi last year, the Iraqi deputy interior minister has said.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi casualty count continues to grow.
