Meet And Greet The New Boss - In His Language

by pessimist

Back on Mar 26, 2004, I wrote in Accepting The Lowest Bid, Part 1:

There has been a lot of attention focussed on Richard Clarke's testimony about how George Warmonger Bush failed to defend the nation against terror when there were clear and numerous warnings. But this isn't the only traitorous act the Bush Leaguers have been committing in the face of clear and numerous warnings. Last week, Secretary of State Colin Powell was gallivanting about South Asia in an effort to reassure our allies there that they can continue their activities - stealing our jobs and adversely affecting our national economic security - with impunity.

This Bu$hCo outrage is what that post was about:

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell ... sought to assure Indians on Tuesday that the Bush administration would not try to halt the outsourcing of high-technology jobs to their country.

Claire Buchan, a spokeswoman for the White House, applied this spin to assuage when the outrage from the high-tech sector erupted:

"The secretary made clear in his remarks that we are concerned when Americans lose jobs, and we are focused on creating jobs for American workers ... He also talked about the importance of training workers for the opportunities of the future."

As what - translators for our Indian managers?

I found this yesterday while scanning the news for worthy topics:

Why Bush wants Americans to learn Hindi

Uncle Sam wants his wards to learn Hindi so he can be seen as Uncle Shyam. Hindi has been identified as one of the critical foreign languages that Americans need to learn in greater numbers to win international brownie points and be economically competitive.

According to George, we all need to learn another 'language' if we expect to win domestic brownie points and be economically 'competitive' [think Abramoff]:

“When somebody comes to me and speaks Texan, I know they appreciate the Texas culture.” - President Bush

Last time I listened, Texans still - supposedly - spoke American English, Yore Hindni$$! It would be nice if wannabe Texan$ - like you, for instance - actually HAD some culture!

King George has lots of happy talk to lay at the feet of his multinational corporate controllers as he attempts to ease the takeover of American employment by foreign corporations:

The U.S. State Department announced a plan to boost teaching and learning 'critical need' foreign languages from Kindergarten through university as part of an effort to "further strengthen national security and prosperity in the 21st century."

The comprehensive national plan had three broad goals: expanding the number of Americans mastering 'critical need' languages and starting at a younger age; increasing the number of advanced-level speakers of foreign languages, with an emphasis on critical need languages, and increasing the number of foreign language teachers.

Bush cited another compelling reason for the initiative. The US, he said, could shed its image of a 'bully' in the post-9/11 world if more Americans could speak a foreign language.

"When Americans learn to speak a language, learn to speak Arabic, those in the Arabic region will say, 'Gosh, America's interested in us. They care enough to learn how we speak'," he said.

Is THAT all it's going to take to end the 'insurgency' in Iraq????? King George seems to think so:

Hey bullies, go learn a foreign language

Bush acknowledged that the U.S. is not universally perceived as friendly as he pushes to spread democracy as part of the fight against terrorism.

“We’re also going to advance America’s interests around the world and defeat this notion about our – you know – our bullying concept of freedom by letting people see what we’re about,” he said at the State Department gathering.

“It really is a fundamental way to reach out to somebody and say, ‘I care about you. I want you to know that I’m interested in not only how you talk but how you live,’” said Bush.

You know, George, it sure would be nice if you showed such concern in, oh, let's say, the country of which you are allegedly the Chief Executive???? Instead, your focus is clearly elsewhere:

"The NSLI will dramatically increase the number of Americans learning critical need foreign languages such as Hindi and others through new and expanded programs from kindergarten through university and into the workforce," the U.S. State Department said.

Is that so? Then why did you just cut college aid funding for American students? Was this how you make room in the classrooms for the foreign students you seem to care about more than Americans?

Bush promises to improve visa policy for overseas students
January 6, 2006

The US president, George Bush, yesterday promised university heads that his government will do more to make the country attractive to overseas students.

Drawing applause from more than 120 university presidents and representatives from higher education associations and societies, Mr Bush said it was "in our national interest" to create a balance between security concerns and the country's need for more overseas students.

"We want young kids from around the world coming to our universities," he said. "Because the more youngsters who come to America to get educated, the more likely it is people in the world will understand the true nature of America."

I think that the true nature of America under your corrupt rule is well-understood by the people of the world, Yore Hindni$$!

US college summit to tackle drop in foreign students

Ministers are also understood to want to strengthen the provision of non-traditional language courses in universities - especially in military academies, which would receive funding directly from the Pentagon.

Others, however, are reported to be wary of the plans. Ali Banuazizi, the co-director of the Middle Eastern and Islamic studies programme at Boston College, told InsideHigherEd: "I welcome the attention to foreign languages, but we have tried very hard to show that language learning takes place best when it is within the teaching of various subject matters with the history, culture and literature of a people, and placing language learning within security studies, in the framework of security studies, I think is not good educational policy.

"Any time you put scholarly studies of a society within the military establishment, it creates those kinds of suspicions."

I ask you, dear readers - just who is the traitor to this nation? A progressive seeking to improve conditions in our land - or someone who can't wait to sell it out to the highest bidder?
