Bush Faces GOP Revolt Over Dubai Deal In The House

by Steve

"Everything in this country can't be for sale."
--GOP Senator Richard Shelby, taking issue today with Bush’s sell-out of critical infrastructure

Here comes the intraparty battle within the GOP over the Dubai ports deal that I have heard about the last two days. Even though the Treasury Department stuck a finger in the Senate's eye today when they said that the deal would close tomorrow regardless of what Congress did, House Armed Services Committee chair Duncan Hunter said late today he would introduce legislation to require foreign companies to divest themselves of critical infrastructure like our ports. He said he would "kill" any deal even if it closes.

Get the popcorn.
