Oil? No Kabulshit!

by pessimist

Get ready for the draft, or some other means of boosting the numbers of Americans in uniform! With the on-going Oil War in Iraq, the pending wars against Iran and Syria, and the warming troubles in Korea, many more troops are going to be needed.

Why? Bu$hCo is never going to leave Afghanistan - not after this news has gotten out:

Scientists Find Big Afghan Oil Resources

Nearly 1.6 billion barrels of oil, mostly in the Afghan-Tajik Basin, and about 15.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, mainly in the Amu Darya Basin, could be tapped, said the U.S. Geological Survey and Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Industry. The total area assessed was only about one-sixth of the two basins' 200,000 square miles that lie within Afghanistan.

"There is a significant amount of undiscovered oil in northern Afghanistan," said Patrick Leahy, the U.S. Geological Survey's acting director.

Companies could drill relatively quickly, potentially bringing in billions of dollars in revenue to the transitional government, said H.E. Said Tayeb Jawad, Afghanistan's ambassador to the United States.

"Within two to three years, the prospects are there for companies to start exploring oil and gas. The legal infrastructure is in place for the companies to come in," Jawad said in an interview.

This means that some variety of a security apparatus will have to be in place. Guess who will provide it!

As the majority of the companies prospecting for oil wil be American (just watch!), so will be the military security which will protect them. When the numbers of people susceptible to Bu$hCo blandishments to enlist drop below those necessary to staff this operation, some other means of raising levees will be needed.

Aren't you glad that the Congress just enacted the permanent Patriot Act? Think of the possibilities!

"Having been convicted by a jury of our peers for the crime of commiting terrorism by protesting outside of the Free Speech Zone, and noting that this is your first offense, the Court is inclined toward leniency. At your discretion, you may either voluntarily become a member of the armed forces of the United States until released from service, or you can serve ... years in the penitentiary. Which will it be?"

Few Americans have enough principle to choose prison over the military, and you can be sure that if this practice begins, few will retain their principles once they become subjected to the psyop of being in the military. There is nothing like abuse to make someone more compliant to the power stucture!

Protesters aren't going to be the only ones subjected to this 'choice' as I wrote about here. In fact, except for those few who are exempt from retribution via their status as a Topper, everyone is subject to being impressed into national service.

That is the only way the world can be made safe enough for Big Oil to do its very profitable thing.
