"I've got a lot of respect for Mike Hayden…. He's got a distinguished career. Bottom line, I do believe he's the wrong person, [in] the wrong place, at the wrong time. We should not have a military person leading a civilian agency at this time."
--GOP House Intelligence Committee chairman Peter Hoekstra, yesterday
Surprising no one, President Bush chose Air Force general Michael Hayden to succeed Porter Goss as Director of Central Intelligence this morning.
Just a thought: If Andy Card was dumped after five long years and Josh Bolten was supposedly brought in to improve communications with the Republicans in Congress, and if the White House was supposedly talking internally about dumping Goss for several weeks, then why are the loudest critics of Hayden’s nomination Republicans on Capitol Hill?
