As you know Valerie Plame Wilson and Joseph Wilson filed a civil lawsuit against Dick Cheney, Lewis Libby and Karl Rove (i.e, Shooter, Scooter and Traitor) - and 10 unnamed individuals including Republican operatives.
Please take a minute to visit their website:
Should the civil action result in a payment to Joe and/or Valerie Wilson that is in excess of all costs associated with their legal activities, the equivalent of all monies contributed to the Trust will be returned to the Trust. All Trust money will then be distributed by the trustees to a charitable organization(s) that works to protect government whistleblowers’ First Amendment rights and helps to defend them from retaliatory action.
If you were wondering why in the world Bob Novak would suddenly emerge from his gangrene-filled den of iniquity to mislead and lie again about his involvement in this case, make sure you read the always brilliant Emptywheel:
emptywheel, on Tuesday:
One other possibility, a real wildarsed guess. I've read that the statute of limitations on a civil suit, if the Wilsons were to pursue one, is three years. That means, if they were to sue, they'd have a deadline of Friday (which is the 3-year anniversary of Plame's outing, July 14) to file. I don't know if that information is correct or not. But how convenient would it be, if the Wilsons were about to file suit against Karl Rove, to publish a column and do two Fox appearances reiterating Karl's innocence. Add in the real ad hoc nature of this reporting (sudden announcement on Drudge, the funny print bit described above), and it seems like this press binge was a last minute thing.
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 2006--Valerie Plame Wilson, Ambassador Joseph Wilson and their counsel, Christopher Wolf of Proskauer Rose LLP, will hold a news conference at 10 AM EDT on Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM at the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, DC 20045, to announce the filing of a civil lawsuit against I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice-President Richard Cheney and Karl Rove.
Any other questions about Novak's timing?
Absolutely amazing EW!
