Morning Reads

Dave Johnson (of Seeing The Forest) has a great piece at The Patriot Project and The Huffington Post titled "The Swiftboaters Are Back in the Water". Make sure you take a look at The Patriot Project while you are at it.

Glenn Greenwald writes a detailed post rebutting the litany of lies about him (about his personal life) circulating in the right-wing blogosphere.

We know that unused embryos are routinely discarded at in-vitro fertilization clinics all over the country (i.e., the so-called "life and death" decision has already been made on the blastocycts that come from these clinics). We know that Bush endorsed and supported the use of federal funds for "research on these existing stem cell lines" back in 2001. We also know that Bush has not banned stem cell research that is supported by private or state-level funds. So, Bush has not outlawed the destruction of embryos at fertilization clinics. He has not outlawed stem-cell research (which he considers equivalent to "murder"). He has even explicitly endorsed stem cell research on existing cell lines in 2001. Now, I don't consider any of this to be "murder" or an "endorsement of murder". However, Bush does. So, by his own definition, Bush has taken the stance that he will continue to endorse "murder" in various forms. Why is that exactly?

Now that Al Qaeda is "on the march" (h/t Think Progress), we can fully expect they will try to interfere once again in American elections to help the Republican Party win in 2006.

Bonddad at Daily Kos provides some free advice to Democrats on the Bush economy. His message, in short:

THE WORST RATE OF JOB CREATION IN 40 YEARS

BUSH'S NEW JOBS PAY $9000 LESS PER YEAR.

WORKING PEOPLE HAVEN'T HAD A RAISE IN 5 YEARS.

Talking of the ongoing Middle-East conflicts, make sure you read Meteor Blades' "How do you know what you know?" Then, read Dave Johnson's take on it.
