Open Question, Part Dem
by Duckman GR
I posted the Open Question below to prove a point, which after 100+ comments was made pretty clearly. What has bush done to merit our respect, what has he done that inspires confidence and demonstrates competence in the performance of his job as Worst President Ever, er…., President?
Not one comment, not one, answered the question. Sure they tried to rise to bush’s defense, but were slapped back on thread. And, granted, most of the comments were by the locals who aren’t inclined to support bush, but really, if the wingers had something, they would have posted it.
But they’ve got nuthin!, nuth ing!!
And that’s my point, Democrats. Bush has no record to run on, except a record of failure, greed, unconstitutionality, contempt, and incompetence.
So what are you so afraid of? Why won’t you challenge bush and his cohorts in Congress unmercifully, heap ridicule, scorn, and reality on them until Nov 7, like Tom Harkin did the other day? (Lost in the Kos diaries)
Ask yourself some questions if it helps. Like, will voters that support wholesale violations of the Bill of Rights get me elected, like, will voters who applaud the job of FEMA in New Orleans and the rescue efforts in Lebanon be sufficient to get me elected, and so on. Ask yourself if voters that support this kind of mentality are really the ones you want voting for you. (my bold)
]“The president would say: 'You have an opportunity to really grind down Hezbollah. Let's take it, even if there are other serious consequences that will have to be managed.'”
Psychopath (sy'-co-path) n. 1. A person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse. 2. The current President of the United States.
There’s just no sense in trying to work with a president only interested in politics and power. Wednesday James Zogby was leading a discussion at the Arab-American Institute arguing for some kind of diplomatic effort to get the fighting to stop, discussing policies in the region etc. The problem being, of course, that policies are just tools to be used, the bushites aren’t wedded to any policy except as a means to their ends. Abu Gonzales is a perfect example of this, the bland, innocuous looking civil servant, smart and experienced in the machine, calmly expediting the executions of Texas death row inmates, calmly and clearly in his best legalese justifying the indefensible in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo to further the ambitions of his master, er, leader.
That question can be posed to yourselves, Democrats, what have you done to merit our respect, what have you done that inspires confidence and demonstrates competence in the performance of your jobs as public servants? And supporting, facilitating, enabling, the “policies” of george w bush doesn’t qualify, as Joe Lieberman is finding out.
Please think about what it means when bush's most fevered supporters can find nothing good about his record, and Democrats find it so difficult to beat him and his enablers in the GOP to pieces with that record. Please explain.
