Actions Worth Watching?
There are some interesting things going on in the Governor's office here in California this week. It's almost like Arnold is acting as the head of a nation state, and not just a state.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced an agreement Monday to bypass the Bush administration and work together to explore ways to fight global warming.
when it comes to protecting the environment," Schwarzenegger said.
"We know there is global warming, so we should stop it."
Then there is stem cell research. Blair is promoting research alliances with British firms to California execs, which could enable them to bypass US restrictions on stem cell research.
Considering that Britain 'could be world leader in stem cell research' soon, such an alliance would be welcome - certain preferable to invading foreign nations in order to control the distribution of ther oil reserves.
Arnold has advanced $150 million from California's state general fund as seed money, part of $3 billion approved by California voters for stem cell research, to aid this effort. The state is to benefit from this investment just like any other shareholder.
If these two men were to do more things like this and abandon the plan to conquer the oil world, they could almost become respectable.
