The Left Coaster: Election 2006 State of the States Roundup

by eriposte

AZ: Why is Democrat John Pederson running behind in the polls against incumbent Senator Jon Kyl? Emmett O'Connel at Western Democrat offers a possible explanation.

CA: Corrupt GOP Rubber-Stamp Rep. Jerry Lewis in yet another corruption investigation. SFBrianCL at Calitics has more.

CO: Pacified at Square State observes that the latest polls from CO-07 and CO-04 significantly over-represent Republicans - so, the news is actually quite good (curently) for the two Democrats running for Congress in these districts - Ed Perlmutter and Angie Paccione.

IL: Republican Congressman Mark Kirk (whom Democratic challenger Dan Seals is running against) tries reinventing history to avoid beeing seen for the Bush rubber stamp that he is. Ellen Beth at Ellen's IL 10th CD Blog has some details.

KY: GOP Rep. Geoff Davis caught lying through his teeth about his Democratic challenger Ken Lucas - Mark Nickolas has details at Bluegrass Report. Nickolas is also asking readers from Kentucky to send him GOP attack mailers.

MD: Republican Senatorial candidate Michael Steele claims to be fighting lobbyists in true Republican style by er, taking lots of money from lobbyists - Lee Fang at Free State Politics has a first hand account of Steele cutting and running on being confronted on this.

MI: This is an interesting story about gubernatorial GOP candidate Dick DeVos, via diarist Greg at Michigan Liberal. According to the Triangle Foundation:

DeVos claims in his "Michigan Turnaround Plan: Version 2.0" and in his multi-million dollar advertising blitz, that he wants to help create jobs and sustain Michigan's economy. However, his wife's family is funding the [anti-gay] American Family Association Boycott of Ford Motor Company.

Oops.

WA: GOP Senatorial candidate Mike McGavick was caught lying about his DUI arrest many years ago and is now making up new tales about his "recollection". The "funniest" part of his new "story"? Looks like he just admitted that he still drinks (just not "too much") and drives - Horses Ass and Jesus' General have more details.
