Open Thread - Smart Democrats Edition

Those of you who disagree with me on the issue of fighting Bush’s detainee proposal should note this: there are at least three Republicans (McCain, Warner, and Lindsey Graham) who have problems with Bush’s proposal, and a fourth (Chuck Hagel) who may vote against Bush purely to send a message that he won’t be bullied. As I suggested yesterday, Senate Democrats are going to back this group against the White House and deprive Rove and Bush of an argument, and let McCain and the others make this a fight between Republicans. Smart, very smart, especially since the military is against Bush’s proposal also.
