White House Scrambles To Revise Detainee Proposal

Late today, with two more GOP senators (Chuck Hagel and Lincoln Chafee) joining the Gang of Five in opposition to the White House on detainee treatment policy, the Bush Administration indicated that it would send a revised proposal over to the Senate this week. Don't be surprised if more GOP senators come aboard to oppose the White House. Warner already has 52 votes.

Also, McCain said today that he will not be endorsing Joe Lieberman's candidacy, presumably because McCain will either endorse the hapless GOP candidate or stay out of the race altogether.
