Reynolds Should Resign Also
by Steve
When winning and holding power is more important than doing the right thing:
In another stunning development, Robert Novak today reveals in his column - published in PostOpinion on Page 31 - that even after House GOP leaders knew that Foley had written an inappropriate e-mail to a 16-year-old former male page, they were still urging him to seek re-election.
Novak writes, "A member of the House leadership told me that Foley, under continuous political pressure because of his sexual orientation, was considering not seeking a seventh term this year but that Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), talked him into running."This is just another glimpse of Today’s Republican Party under George W. Bush and Karl Rove, with an assist from “journalist” Jeff Gannon. Rather than allow Foley to leave office and recruit another candidate that may not hold onto the seat, Reynolds talked him out of it even after knowing about the email(s). This implicates Reynolds as an enabler just as much as anyone else in the House GOP caucus.
I wonder how many of those "moral values" voters in 2004 are still sipping that Kool-Aid?
