Open Thread - Hillary Loses News Cycle To McCain
As I noted Tuesday, John McCain took a shot at the Clintons and tried to blame the North Korean nuclear test on a president who left office six years ago.
Hillary had an opportunity to hit back and kneecap McCain in the same news cycle, and this was the best her vaunted media team could do, according to Wednesday's Post:
Philippe Reines, spokesman for Hillary Clinton, said of McCain's remarks: "Now is not the time to play politics of the most dangerous kind. . . . President Bush has been in charge of North Korea policy for six years, and two days ago we saw the brazen result."
He said the New York senator "supports an approach that protects us from the threat of North Korean nuclear weapons, as the Clinton administration successfully did for eight years."
Oh stop it, you wimpish bastards. Is that the best you can do? Hell, this response makes Kerry's 2004 campaign look thugish by comparison, and I didn't think that was possible.
McCain won this news cycle. If this is what we have to look forward to with a Hillary operation, then forget it. Don't waste my time. If you can't kneecap the bastard in the same news cycle, then don't pretend to be a player when you are a pretender.
OK, take it away.
