Full Speed Ahead - Into The Dumper
Cheney throws a late bomb into the campaign that should sink all the vulnerable GOP incumbents. Instead of staying quiet and banking on the base coming out, Cheney tells ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he and Bush aren’t on the ballot, and are therefore going full speed ahead with their Iraq policy. This may help with a small segment of the cultists, but in any close race where independents and wavering Republicans will make the difference, Cheney just stuck the knife in. Which rocket scientist inside the White House thought this was a good idea the final weekend before the election?
Four days before the election, as Republican candidates are battling to save their seats in Congress amidst a backlash over the war in Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney told ABC News the administration is going "full speed ahead" with its policy.
"We've got the basic strategy right," Cheney told George Stephanopoulos in an interview to be broadcast Sunday on "This Week."
"It may not be popular with the public — it doesn't matter in the sense that we have to continue the mission and do what we think is right. And that's exactly what we're doing," Cheney said. "We're not running for office. We're doing what we think is right."
He just shot all the GOP incumbents in the face. This will have the same impact that the pre-election Bin Laden videotape did in 2004 - only in reverse.
