Bush Stands By Bolton

by Mary

Despite the fact that Bush was slapped and slapped hard this week, he is bound and determined to make a stand for getting John Bolton approved by the Senate as the US envoy to the United Nations. Why?

In the president's view, however, Bolton "has turned out to be a very effective representative at the U.N. and, in fact, has turned out to be something his critics expected him not to be," Bolten said. "He's turned out to be a good consensus builder, and it's been reflected on resolutions on North Korea, in Lebanon, in other ways."

We should take that as a sign of what Bush, the newly reformed consensus builder, means when he says he'll work with the Democrats.
