Word came out late Wednesday that the Baker/Hamilton Iraq Study Group had reached consensus on its recommendations and would be issuing its report in early December. The New York Times reports in Thursday's edition that the report will call for a pullback of US brigades from active combat areas, as well as direct talks with Iran and Syria. But the story also indicates that the recommendation for pullback will not be tied to a timeline, because Jim Baker did not want to make things too difficult for Bush.

In other words, nothing will change and Bush will blow off this report, as many of us suspected for months now.
