Ledeen's Good Sources

by Mary

Via the illustrious James Wolcott, we see that Michael Ledeen had a very good tip the other day that had the rightwing blogosphere in titters of excitement.

On his own PJM blog, Ledeen, who had written unequivocally and unambiguously, "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, is dead," mewed to a commenter, "Time will tell. The source is good, but there is no confirmation yet. His condition is/was grave, that's certain." Ledeen seems less and less certain of what he's certain about.

The only problem was there wasn't any evidence to back it up. But it does lead to some interesting speculation on who that good source could be. Perhaps it was his good friend Ahmed Chalabi? Or maybe one of his friends in the SISMI? Or perhaps it was Manucher Ghorbanifar? After all, they all have had such good track records in planting false stories that the gullible have swallowed hook, line and sinker.
