61% Are Against Escalation

In a poll with an abnormally large number of independents in its sample (42%) as compared to Democrats (31%), the latest USAT/Gallup poll out today shows that 61% disapprove of Bush’s escalation, with only 36% approving. Bush’s approval rating on Iraq has now fallen to only 26% and 72% don’t think that Bush has a clear plan for what to do in Iraq. By a 2-1 margin, those polled want Congressional Democrats to have more influence over the nation’s direction.
And yet the Democrats tip-toe around the idea of revoking the 2001 AUMF?
