Yesterday when I read Kevin Drum's concluding paragraph on Bush's Iran sales job, I thought, what will it take for the smart guys to understand that even framing the issue like this is enabling Bush?
Here's the paragraph:
Still, everyone is skeptical, and who can blame them? The current gang in the White House would have to provide videotape of the Ayatollah Khamenei himself attaching tailfins to one of these things and putting it in a box labeled "Baghdad -- ASAP" before I'd be willing to take any action based on this latest dog and pony show. With any luck, in a couple of years we'll have a president I don't have to feel that way about.
No, no, no! The only legitimate way to answer Bush's claim is that if the Iranians are such a serious threat, then the first thing we need to do is to depose the gang in the White House so that we could deal with the threat with a sane and competent team in charge who we can trust to put America's interests over their own. Our job as Americans is to make sure this administration cannot do more damage to this country and framing the argument as Kevin did is giving them too much rope.
Your turn now.
