The White House's Cheap Political Stunt On Pelosi's Syria Trip

Are you surprised to learn that Bush was told in advance of Pelosi’s trip to Syria and raised no objections to it? You shouldn’t be. The White House wanted a cheap political stunt more than anything, so they let her go and then pressured the Olmert government to set her up, making them and Newt Gingrich look craven, stupid, and ultimately hypocritical. I just hope that Speaker Pelosi remembers how quickly the Israelis sandbagged her on this the next time she plays the game with AIPAC and Joe Lieberman.
