Would You Want To Work For This Man?
The Financial Times reports today that the Bush Administration is losing senior officials and is having a difficult time recruiting replacements. Given how dysfunctional this administration is, none of this is surprising. It is comical however to see John Bolton complain that “the whole system of inter-departmental policy deliberation has broken down” since he did so much to work against anyone who disagreed with him; or to see David Frum say “Mr Bush’s principal concern is that Iraq policy will increasingly be driven by a rebellious Congress and by army generals on the ground,” a week after Bush himself said that politicians should not second-guess generals.
But if you want an example of the type of people Bush can still recruit to high-level positions in his administration, look no further than the racist nimrod he just appointed to succeed escort service customer Randall Tobias at the State Department.
President Bush plans to nominate Henrietta Holsman Fore to head the U.S. Agency for International Development “to replace Randall Tobias who resigned after his name was linked to an escort service.”
Fore is currently the State Department undersecretary for management. When Bush nominated her for this position in 2005, ThinkProgress noted that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) grilled Fore over her previous comments in which she suggested blacks prefer pushing drugs on the street to working in factory jobs.Fore will fit right in with a VP who said two years ago that Iraq was turning a corner, and an AG who plans to lecture Congress tomorrow that they should “move on” and forget the attorney sacking scandal.
And would you want to work for a boss who has been relegated to commencement addresses at community colleges and Stepford crowds, only to be heckled by nuns?
